What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation, I plan on going to graduate school. I want to get my PhD in organic chemistry and hope to one day be an organic chemistry professor. I am extremely passionate about research and hope that it is always a part of my life and career.

Why did you get involved in research?

I hope to one day have a career in research. I love the idea of doing new things that no one else has ever done, and continually building on my knowledge. Research means that you never stop learning, and that is something that I love.

What has been the scariest/most challenging part of research?

The scariest part initially was worrying that I would mess something up so badly and somehow cause an accident or mess up someone else’s work. The reality is is that everybody makes mistakes and whether they are big or small, they are all mostly fixable and chances are someone else in your lab has made that same mistake. Mistakes are something you can bond over just as much as successes!
