Chemistry@WI 2027: Virtual Undergraduate Research Symposium

The UW-Madison Department of Chemistry will hold an online symposium showcasing undergraduate chemistry research from across UW campuses. This event will provide students an opportunity to present their work, learn about research across the state and participate in professional development.

Dates: February 23-25, 2027

Time: 1-5 pm each day

Abstract submissions will open in Fall 2026 with abstracts due in November

Presenters

Hear about ongoing research

Prof. Todd  investigates the origins of life on Earth and works to understands the implications for the possibility of life on other planets. Her research utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to attempt to understand how the astronomical and planetary environments may allow for the chemical/biochemical origins and evolution of life.

 

 

 

 

 

Get an introduction to what a Ph.D. in chemistry is all about

Francisca Jofre, Graduate Program Manager at UW-Madison will provide a presentation on graduate school applications to help students interested in pursuing a graduate degree.

 

 

 

 

Network with others and gain presentation skills

Undergraduate chemistry students from across the University of Wisconsin system. They will participate in synchronous presentations so that they can interact with their audience. This will be an excellent opportunity for students to share their research and learn about the science happening across Wisconsin.

Abstract

  • 250-word maximum
  • To be submitted via a Google Form – Link will be posted in Fall 2026
  • Submissions will be due in November

Presentations

  • 10-15 minute synchronous presentation
  • Presentations made on Zoom
  • Time to answer questions from the audience
  • Presentations will be a PowerPoint or similar presentation

Scheduling

We understand that students are busy with classes and labs. When submitting an abstract, the presenter will be asked for their availability on the symposium days. We will make every effort to accommodate the presenter’s schedule to ensure they will be able to participate.
